As writers, we’re privileged to access the blueprint of our behaviors: stories. Stories exist everywhere, from the lines in your face, to why you will only wear purple underwear, to the lump in your throat every time you begin to open your heart.

In this confessional writing workshop, we will engage with our stories through the lens of self-seeing.

After the story is written, after the tale is told, what have we learned about ourselves?

What space now exists in our chests after having told the story?

And what world is the story itself beginning to create?

At the surface level, this will be a craft workshop on storytelling. On a deeper plane, we will be cultivating + harnessing our powers of intention and inner alchemy to:

  1. bring light to our inner stories,

  2. glean meaning and wisdom from them, and

  3. consciously tell a chosen story using language that shapes our lives.

We employ the style of Confessional Writing and the technique of intuitive writing to witness ourselves from a healing distance that allows the identity to momentarily detach from ongoing thoughts, mental patterns, and emotions. When we return to present consciousness, it is with the truth of the moment — the truth to be documented and embodied along the journey of life and living.

Within this workshop, you will draft a written confessional narrative.

“I thought the workshop was a good class size (I don't enjoy when they are too big because it doesn't feel intimate and safe). The material was relevant and deep, with emotional writing prompts and guidance. The facilitator was excellent at holding space lovingly, allowing everyone to feel safe and seen. She gave helpful tips and frameworks to use in later writing. There was an appropriate amount of time for framework explanation, to dive into each writing prompt, and to share. It was beautiful to hear and read people's shares and I thought the engagement was good. The facilitator was excellent at holding space lovingly, allowing everyone to feel safe and seen in sharing. She provided supportive and valuable tools, prompts, and guidance before, during, and after the workshop.”
