The House That Raised Me

I go because I know where

rhythms breathe heavy

beneath the flicker of an electric

blue-green light.

And in the near distance, the City

pulsating with its insatiable life.

She towers over to listen and see

devoted pilgrims

who come to wander within

basslines so deliciously deep.

This is the House that taught me to Love:

The Gays, the Dolls, the Jackers, and Queens.

No place to be shy in the Chi—

When in this House, We vibe freely.

When on the dancefloor of this temple

together we radiate our love into the nights.

Here we exist as the Us & the All.

The tidals of the trumpets announce

The Revolution–

Their themes sound off a call.

Drums beating on every quatrième beat,

hypnotically locking in its crowd.

Soulful vocals engraving lyrics

like poetry, asking for respect & unity.

This is the House that raised me

with her sweet caresses and grooves.

The spirit here electrifies the hearts

of those who want to exist beautifully

underneath the illumination

of stars & disco balls.
