i.

When you and I don't match opinions, much like we match the colour of our clothes, I promise to never let disparity cause distance between us. I promise you respect.

ii.

When you and I sit to join the pieces of life together, I promise to hear your silence before you feel my pain. I promise you compassion.

iii.

When you and I live several skies apart to fill our pockets and then our home, I promise to think of us before I think of me. I promise you togetherness.

iv.

When you and I have a choice to make, one that could either break or build, I promise to choose the one that would build us no matter what we broke. I promise you strength.

v.

When you and I struggle to find the courage to apologise first, I promise to whisper into your ears and say “I love you” instead. I promise you reconciliation.

vi.

When you and I can barely tolerate a touch, I promise to cuddle you to sleep. I promise you peace before bed. I promise you kindness.

vii.

In a broken world, I promise to love you whole. I do.
