These days
we sit,
two birds
perched:
high wire,
banded ankles,
secret messages
tucked.
Years ago,
younger selves,
sensing loss,
wanted
simple clues
reminding us
which way
home.
Couldn’t see
signs said:
No Way

Nellesa Walthour is a dance and movement educator, choreographer, dancer, actor and director. Having written poetry, essays and short fiction for herself, she now endeavors to publish her work and grow her writing as an additional storytelling vehicle.
