Join NowOrange Popsicle: Writing the Stories of Our Childhood with Supriya Rakesh
In this reflective workshop, we will dive into childhood memories to uncover stories we would like to tell in the now. Through memory-mining, fictionalising and re-storying, we will shape our experiences into narratives, ready to be shared with the world.
We will revisit the bittersweet space, between sentiment and nostalgia, of days gone by yet deeply etched within us, both magical and mundane, messy and wholesome, carefree and substantial. Times that shaped our origin stories, laying out our first chapters, revealing to us the essence of our soul. Rediscovering these stories means recovering fragments of our self—fragments that we may have intentionally or accidentally, left behind.
In this workshop, we will:
dive into our childhood memories, finding inspiration & source material for a specific story
practice fictionalising through imagination and the wisdom of hindsight
create the literary atmosphere of a specific time, place and season in our lives
as authors of our narratives, choose our endings
This workshop is for:
Writers and storytellers across levels, interested in fiction or memoir, seeking expression through personal storytelling.
What to bring:
Arrive as you are, with curiosity, nostalgia and creative intention. Additionally, we invite you to bring an old picture, object, or food that reminds you of your childhood. Also, something to write with and something to write on, preferably a notebook and pen.
Join us. Let’s dive in.
