BA HOUSEA
BA HOUSEA, Self-Portrait Photography, 18in x 24in, 2024
“My selections are from a series called KI GEBAN BA HOUSEA (Black Woman Spirit Free). It is about my relationship between sensuality and self-sovereignty. It is an intimate reclamation of my body—not just as flesh, but as an extension of spirit, thought, and emotion. Sensuality, often misunderstood or confined to the physical, becomes a force of deep presence, self-awareness, and liberation in this body of work.
Each piece in this series is an exploration of the way sensuality bridges the seen and unseen, the tangible and the divine. It is an act of embodiment, a ritual of presence, and a reclamation of the self beyond shame, beyond limitation—where the spirit breathes through skin, thought pulses through movement, and pleasure is recognized as an inherent right, not a privilege.”
